After a string of three wins, the Evangel Christian Lightning's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Valiant Cross Academy by a score of 74-72. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Evangel Christian has suffered yet this season.
Despite the loss, Evangel Christian still got an impressive performance from Owen Bugnar, who scored 37 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bugnar has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Paul Dixon, who scored 13 points.
Evangel Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 15-3. As for Valiant Cross Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-4.
Evangel Christian will head out on the road to challenge Edgewood Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Valiant Cross Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lee-Scott Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
