Dorchester Academy had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Lee Academy Cavaliers on Saturday as they made off with a 15-5 win. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by ten runs or more this season.
Emery McClure was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. McClure was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Ryann Martin was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Lily Canady was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
The victory (which was Dorchester Academy's seventh in a row) raised their record to 19-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lee Academy, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-14.
Looking ahead, Dorchester Academy will venture away from home to challenge Carolina Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders are facing the Bobcats at the right time seeing as the Bobcats are stuck on a four-game losing streak. Lee Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
