The Marist RedHawks will square off against the Lincoln-Way West Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Marist barely beat Homewood-Flossmoor the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Marist's pitchers stepped up to hand Homewood-Flossmoor a 10-0 shutout on Monday. The RedHawks haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Aidan Flinn tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero hits, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Ryan Lawlor and Brendan Doran did most of the damage at the plate: Lawlor scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4, while Doran scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. What's more, Lawlor posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Charlie Dunneback, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way West got the win against Shepard on Tuesday by a conclusive 13-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.
Adam Gerl looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk).
On the hitting side, Conor Essenburg was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jackson Mansker was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
