Wakefield Country Day was the victim of a tough 58-34 defeat at the hands of Mountain View Christian Academy on Tuesday. Wakefield Country Day has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Wakefield Country Day saw an underclassman step up: Jacob Didomenico scored 14 points along with 5 assists and 5 steals. Didomenico scored a full 41.2% of Wakefield Country Day's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Kazmier, who scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Wakefield Country Day were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain View Christian Academy only racked up 17.
Mountain View Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gaven Vaughn out in front who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Devin Michael, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
Wakefield Country Day's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Mountain View Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 1-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wakefield Country Day will take on Varsity Opponent at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Varsity Opponent is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for Mountain View Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Massanutten Military Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
