The Legacy Charter Eagles struggled with offensive rebounds on Monday (the Pine Ridge Panthers had 17 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Legacy Charter took a 47-31 bruising from Pine Ridge.
Legacy Charter's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ashlyn Kraus, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds, and Mckenzie Williams who scored no points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Legacy Charter struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Pine Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Serenity Cressor led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds. Cressor hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Murray, who scored ten points along with nine steals.
Legacy Charter has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Pine Ridge, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Legacy Charter will square off against Forest Lake Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pine Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Father Lopez at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Father Lopez is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
