 Cooper Jones was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off   one  hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs while going 1-for-3. He also put up a  double, which was his first of the season.
 In other batting news,  Jake Wagner was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 1-for-2 with one  home run and two  RBI. That  home run marked the first that  he  launched this season.
 Meanwhile, Silverdale Academy was not the first on the board  on Friday, but they got there more often. They skirted past Rhea County  6-4.
 Silverdale Academy is  on a roll lately: they've  won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record  this season. The  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Notre Dame, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
