After a string of four wins, the Alvord Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Boyd by a score of 64-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Boyd's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trey Robinson, who scored 22 points. The contest was Robinson's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Boyer, who scored 21 points.
Alvord's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Boyd, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alvord will be home for the holidays to greet Bowie at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Boyd will be home for the holidays to greet Ponder at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ponder presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Boyd in Texas (Ponder is ranked 337th, while Boyd is ranked 842nd).
