St. George hasn't had much luck against First Assembly Christian recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Gryphons will square off against the Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
On Tuesday, St. George's beat White Station 71-60.
St. George's found their leader in sophomore Carson Crump, who went 8-for-14 en route to 25 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Brown, who shot 63% from the field on his way to 12 points.
St. George's was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, First Assembly Christian beat Lausanne Collegiate 67-63 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Crusaders.
St. George's better keep an eye on JAELYN BLACKWELL. He was instrumental in First Assembly Christian's win, going 9-for-17 to rack up 30 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was ERIC BLOUNT JR., who shot 71% from the field en route to 17 points.
The win got First Assembly Christian back to even at 5-5. As for St. George's, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: St. George's has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 33.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like First Assembly Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for St. George's against First Assembly Christian when the teams last played back in February, as the squad secured a 74-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gryphons since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
