Even though the Davie War Eagles have not done well against the West Forsyth Titans recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Davie snuck past West Forsyth with a 53-47 win. This was payback for Davie, who suffered a 39-29 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Davie was led to victory by Avarie Martin and Malayka Rankin. Martin scored 15 points, while Rankin scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Emmie Burris was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Several Titans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alexis Waters, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Waters has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Campbell McClain, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Davie is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for West Forsyth, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Davie will square off against East Forsyth at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Forsyth, they will head out on the road to take on Parkland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Parkland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday.
