After flying high against the Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech Griffins last Tuesday, the Currituck County Knights came back down to earth. Currituck County took a hard 58-41 fall against Northeastern on Friday. It was the first time this season that Currituck County let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Currituck County saw an underclassman step up: Arianna White dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 steals. White has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Eboni Bailey, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
It was another big night for Jasmine Felton, who dropped a double-double on 38 points and 16 rebounds for Northeastern. That makes it five consecutive games in which Felton has scored at least a third of Northeastern's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zania Gregory, who scored six points along with four steals.
Currituck County's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4. As for Northeastern, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Currituck County will be playing in front of their home fans against Hertford County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hertford County will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Northeastern, they will head out on the road to challenge First Flight at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. First Flight's defense has only allowed 29.9 points per game this season, so Northeastern's offense will have their work cut out for them.
