Averroes is 5-0 against Apostles Lutheran since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Averroes waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 60-49 win over Oakland Military Institute. 60 seems to be a good number for Averroes as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Meanwhile, Apostles Lutheran didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Varsity Opponent on Monday, but they still walked away with a 63-58 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Apostles Lutheran.
It was another big night for Jeremy Bork, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lamek Medhanie, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Averroes' victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Apostles Lutheran, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Everything went Averroes' way against Apostles Lutheran in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as Averroes made off with a 71-45 victory. Does Averroes have another victory up their sleeve, or will Apostles Lutheran turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
