The Gahr Gladiators will head out on the road to take on the Millikan Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Gahr is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest win since April 3, 2025 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Valley Christian 5-4. The win was just business as usual for the Gladiators, who after three games remain undefeated this season.
Bella Gonzalez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Hazel Anglo was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Megan Wong, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Gahr always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley Christian only posted an OBP of .258.
Meanwhile, Millikan had just enough and edged out Huntington Beach 2-1 on Saturday. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Oilers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Millikan also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Jade Torres gave up only one earned run on one hit. Torres has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lexy Everrett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
Gahr's record now sits at 3-0. As for Millikan, their record is now 6-2.
Gahr's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Gladiators have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Millikan, though, as they've been averaging only 0.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Gahr continue to outrun the ball?
Gahr came out on top in a nail-biter against Millikan when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gladiators since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
