Basketball Recap: First Baptist Takes a Loss

After soaring to 57 points the game before, First Baptist was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They were dealt a 70-29 defeat at the hands of the St. Francis Christian Patriots. The Crusaders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-11.

When it comes to explaining why First Baptist lost, don't look at Jon Anaya. Despite the final result, he posted seven points and four steals. Anaya is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed four or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaac Wynja, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 16 points.

St. Francis Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deacon Brahs, who went 6 for 14 en route to 15 points and five rebounds. What's more, Brahs also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. David Voss also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

First Baptist now has a losing record at 7-8. As for St. Francis Christian, the win keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

First Baptist will square off against Woodcrest Baptist Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. First Baptist is facing Woodcrest Baptist Academy at the right time seeing as Woodcrest Baptist Academy is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for St. Francis Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 82-66 loss against Prior Lake Christian on the 16th.
