The Longmont Trojans will be playing at home against the Holy Family Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Longmont's game was all tied up 25-25 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They secured a 50-45 W over Greeley Central.
Longmont found their leader in underclassman Joey Foot, who scored ten points along with two blocks. It was the first time this season that Foot posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Cole Corner, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, even though Centaurus scored an imposing 58 points on Saturday, Holy Family still came out on top. In a tight match that could have gone either way, Holy Family made off with a 59-58 win over the Warriors. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Holy Family.
Joseph Portillo jr continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Watts, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Longmont's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for Holy Family, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Longmont have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 20.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Holy Family struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Longmont and the Tigers were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in January, but the Trojans came up empty-handed after a 46-45 defeat. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Portillo jr, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Now that Longmont knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
