Sunnyside has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Roosevelt Rough Riders at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sunnyside has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 602 points over their last nine contests.
Sunnyside posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 70-36 victory over Madera South. Given Sunnyside's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Madera South is ranked 1134th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Malachi Barnes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Daequan Jones was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Roosevelt had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They skirted past Fresno 56-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Roosevelt has posted yet this season.
Sunnyside has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Roosevelt, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Sunnyside came up short against Roosevelt in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 58-45. Can Sunnyside avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
