Last Tuesday, Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Timberlake Christian, but they still walked away with a 43-37 win.
Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy can attribute much of their success to Jordan White, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Karlee Smith, who scored 14 points along with two steals. White is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Sierra Moore was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Tri-Cities Christian put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 63-42 margin over Southwest Virginia Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Tri-Cities Christian has posted since December 4, 2023.
Tri-Cities Christian relied on the efforts of Michaela Dixon, who scored 21 points along with two steals and two blocks, and Greene, who scored 21 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Dixon continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Bosken, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Tri-Cities Christian, they pushed their record up to 10-7 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 22.1 rebounds per game.
