Van Meter might be getting used to good results now that the squad have eight wins in a row. They blew past Mt. Ayr 35-6. Followers of Van Meter probably expected little less of the squad in a season in which they have collected seven blowout victories.
After a totally unproductive first quarter, the Van Meter offense stepped up its game and put 14 points on the board in the second quarter. Meanwhile, Mt. Ayr couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 14-0 heading into the break. Van Meter put the contest away in the third quarter with 14 points from the offense and zero points allowed from the defense.
Both teams are staying within the conference for their upcoming matches. Next week Van Meter take on Clarinda at 7:00 PM. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Van Meter and Clarinda will really light up the scoreboard. As for Mt. Ayr, they will face off against Guthrie Center/Adair-Casey. Neither Mt. Ayr nor Guthrie Center/Adair-Casey could muster much offensive firepower in their last games, so look to the defense to decide this one.
