The Harnett Central Trojans will venture away from home to square off against the Triton Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Harnett Central knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Triton likes a good challenge.
Last Thursday, Harnett Central made easy work of E.E. Smith and carried off a 17-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Golden Bulls: they've now won eight in a row.
Molly Champion made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. Champion was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Haleigh Moss was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 4-for-4. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lauren Faulkner, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Triton fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Pine Forest on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 7-6. The Hawks' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Triton got a big performance out of Sydney Bradham, who got no hits from her three at bats. Bradham has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Kelsey Matthews was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Triton's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 13-3. As for Harnett Central, their record is now 11-4.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Harnett Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .471. However, it's not like Triton struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Harnett Central couldn't quite finish off Triton when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
