Softball Recap: Trinity Lutheran Comes Up Short

Trinity Lutheran dropped their record down to 4-11 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Bedford North Lawrence Stars, falling 11-3. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 12-1 to the Stars when the teams met back in April of 2018, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Bedford North Lawrence, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games.

For Bedford North Lawrence's part, Ava Ratliff was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Ratliff has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Tori Nikirk, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and four runs.

Looking ahead, Trinity Lutheran will head out on the road to face off against Borden at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Braves have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Bedford North Lawrence, they will face off against Northeast Dubois at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
