The Pahrump Valley Trojans came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 46-36 win over Palo Verde. The score was all tied up 16-16 at the break, but Pahrump Valley was the better team in the second half.
Leading Pahrump Valley to victory were Kailani Martinez and Paris Coleman. Martinez dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, while Coleman scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Martinez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Heaven Cooper was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds and five assists.
Pahrump Valley pushed their record up to 17-1 with that victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.36 points. As for Palo Verde, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pahrump Valley will square off against Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 11 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Palo Verde, they will head out on the road to challenge Shadow Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Shadow Ridge is ranked 11th, while Palo Verde is ranked 23rd).
