Delaney Lawyer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Lawyer was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Boiling Springs got a big performance out of Peyton Lawyer, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs. Another player making a difference was Kayla Fry, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Boiling Springs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, William Penn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They came up short against New Oxford, falling 19-2. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Bearcats couldn't push the score so high this time.
William Penn saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Genesis Roldan, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI. Chloe Diggs was another, earning one run and two stolen bases.
Boiling Springs' win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for William Penn, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Boiling Springs has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .435. However, it's not like William Penn struggles in that department as they've averaged .444. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
