Basketball Recap: Center Hill's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Center Hill hadn't done well against Southaven recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Center Hill Mustangs walked away with a 55-48 victory over the Southaven Chargers. The win was nothing new for the Mustangs as they're now sitting on five straight.

Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayven Welch, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cael Jones, who went 6 of 14 en route to 17 points.

Center Hill pushed their record up to 7-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Southaven, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Center Hill wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-28 defeat against Overton on the 21st. Southaven and Ashland will round out the year against one another at at 5:30 p.m. on December 28th.
