Russell's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Lewis County with a sharp 11-0 victory. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.
Lokelio Ancheta was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Hayden McGowen, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Russell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lewis County only managed seven.

Aaron Pennington made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Havens, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Brody Lykins was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Russell hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like Rowan County struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Russell couldn't quite finish off Rowan County in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 and fell 7-5. Will the Red Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
