Basketball Game Preview: Austintown-Fitch Falcons vs. Lake Blue Streaks

The Austintown-Fitch Falcons and the Lake Blue Streaks will round out the year against one another at at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Austintown-Fitch is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.3 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Austintown-Fitch came up short against Cardinal Mooney and fell 62-51. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 463rd, while the Cardinals are ranked 147th).

Despite the loss, Austintown-Fitch got top-tier performance from Ej Giles, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Giles has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Carter Owens was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Lake played a tough matchup on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Canton Central Catholic an easy 72-52 victory. The defeat continues a trend for the Blue Streaks in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now lost three in a row.

This is the second loss in a row for Austintown-Fitch and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for Lake, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 2-5.
