After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Arizona Lutheran Academy, The Tonopah Valley Phoenix were happy to have found some success on Friday. They blew past Antelope 52-15 on the road. The result was nothing new for Tonopah Valley, who have now won four contests by 37 points or more so far this season.
Tonopah Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sir-izzik S?nchez caldwell, who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also picked up 80 receiving yards. Martin Quinonez did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 100 receiving yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Antelope to a paltry 169 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Tonopah Valley's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out eight times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Sir-jessie Caldwell and his four sacks.
Although Antelope took the loss, they still got scores from Kenan Ragels and Steven Castro.
Tonopah Valley's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Antelope, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Tonopah Valley will look to defend their home field on Friday against Madison Highland Prep at 7:00 p.m. As for Antelope, they will head out on the road to face off against Trivium Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Trivium Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Antelope likes a good challenge.
