East Chicago Central extended the longest winning streak in Freelance this week by beating Griffith, 35-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Noblesville Lions moved up to 227 from 266 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Noblesville Lions climbed the ranks as a result of beating Crimson Knights 49-6.
Heritage Christian's dynamic duo of Matt Hunt and Anthony Warrum proved tough for Indianapolis Northwest to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hunt threw for 334 yards and five touchdowns and Warrum had 160 yards receiving. Tyler Gerig helped Heritage Christian's passing attack out by catching four balls for 53 yards.
Corey Beatty made the biggest impact on defense this week as Boone Grove fell to South Newton. The 5-foot-10 senior grabbed two sacks.
Drew Dehnke was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 147 yards on 17 carries as Guerin Catholic beat the Space Pioneers. Ryan Laurel also contributed to the rushing game with 22 yards on the ground.
Heritage Christian's Hunt and Warrum have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Freelance in both passing and receiving yards. Hunt has thrown for 2685 yards this season, while Warrum, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 69 catches for 1411 yards. The Wolves' Cody Poynter leads the league in rushing yards with 1078.
Going into this week's game against Landmark Christian, Norm Tate's team's J Graham Lindman needs 102 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. So far this year, Lindman has thrown for 1898 yards with 27 touchdowns and six interceptions.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Indiana School for the Deaf takes on Knightstown. As it stands, the Deaf Hoosiers are in 36th, while the Panthers are in 12th.
Washington was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 29th to 10th in the league.
