The Chapel Hill Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Athens Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Athens took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Chapel Hill, who comes in off a win.
Chapel Hill can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Henderson 63-24 at home. Given Chapel Hill's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Henderson is ranked 550th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Rickey Stewart, who rushed for 169 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Stewart hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for eight straight games. Jayvin Mayfield also deserves a shout-out for his four touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Athens came up short against Kilgore on Friday and fell 28-21.
Chapel Hill's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Athens, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Chapel Hill took their win against Athens in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 48-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chapel Hill since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
