Holy Redeemer is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will welcome the Lake-Lehman Knights at 4:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Lake-Lehman will be up against a hot Holy Redeemer squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Holy Redeemer was the clear victor by a 10-3 margin over Carbondale Area on Saturday. Fans of the Royals have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Dominic Marranca was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Noah Hummel, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Lake-Lehman ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top against Loyalsock Township by a score of 19-14. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Chris Sholtis and Tanner Evans did most of the damage at the plate: Sholtis scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances, while Evans scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Sholtis a new career-high in doubles (two). Jake Naugle was another key player, going 3-for-7 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Lake-Lehman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Holy Redeemer pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average this season. As for Lake-Lehman, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Holy Redeemer was able to grind out a solid victory over Lake-Lehman in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 6-1. Will Holy Redeemer repeat their success, or does Lake-Lehman has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
