The Bethel Wildcats fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the New Milford Green Wave on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Green Wave 68-62. Bethel's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it four in a row.
New Milford got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Esposito out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Esposito has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Armani Checo, who scored 22 points.
Bethel has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for New Milford, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-10.
Bethel will take on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Masuk and the Wildcats are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for New Milford, they will head out on the road to square off against the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Connecticut (Abbott RVT is ranked 150th, while the Green Wave are ranked 157th).
