Basketball Recap: Fort Stockton Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Fort Stockton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a hard 53-38 fall against the Presidio Blue Devils. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-38 back in November of 2024.

Fort Stockton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Evan Cordero, who posted nine points and eight rebounds. Cordero is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Diego Ronquillo, who earned six points and three steals.

Fort Stockton's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-7. As for Presidio, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Fort Stockton and Presidio should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Fort Stockton (ranked 596th) will meet Pecos (ranked 1468th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Presidio (ranked 558th) will meet Kermit (ranked 1150th) at 8:00 p.m. on January 17th.
