It was a good run, but the Holly Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. The contest between Holly and McClave wasn't particularly close, with Holly falling 53-39. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Holly has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Holly lost, one person who can't be blamed is Devin Eaton. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with three blocks. The match was Eaton's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Dylan Tamayo was another key contributor, scoring five points.
McClave's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tuff Kelley led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Kelley has scored at least 25% of McClave's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Barr, who scored ten points along with five assists.
Holly's loss dropped their record down to 5-1. As for McClave, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
Holly won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Kit Carson at 5:30 p.m. on December 16th. McClave and Eads will face off at 8:30 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Eads focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
