If the Newfield Wolverines were riding high off their 59-39 takedown of the Tioga Tigers last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Newfield took a 73-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mount Sinai. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (59), Newfield still had to take the loss.
Leading Mount Sinai to victory were Brian Vales and Dominic Pennzello. Vales dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds, while Pennzello dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Pennzello has scored at least 25% of Mount Sinai's points. Another player making a difference was Blake Kolsch, who scored eight points along with ten assists.
Newfield's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Mount Sinai, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
