Despite the loss, Jeff Davis saw an underclassman step up: J.j Benjamin scored 13 points. L'earl Conaway was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Jeremiah Kincey had a dynamite game for Wheeler County, scoring 28 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Quenshawn Glasper, who scored 16 points.
Jeff Davis' defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Wheeler County, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jeff Davis will take on Atkinson County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Atkinson County is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Wheeler County, they will be playing at home against Treutlen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Treutlen's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
