Pascagoula (Miss.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 24 in Mississippi, but was stunned by
Pearl River Central (Carriere, Miss.), 26-20. Pearl River Central was ranked at No. 25 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Mississippi coming into the week.
The Panthers pulled ahead on a touchdown pass by
Stacey Warren, and subsequently went into halftime leading 7-3. The Blue Devils scored the winning points with a touchdown run by
Dylan Spiers that came in the third quarter.
Pearl River Central was ahead by as much as 11 before Pascagoula pulled closer.
Spiers played well for PRC in the victory. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown.
PHS's Warren played well. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored nine touchdowns on the season.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which the Panthers took, 34-6.
The defeat comes as a step back for Pascagoula, which notched a 15-14 victory over Moss Point in its previous outing.
