There's no place like home for the Jay Mustangs, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They strolled past Holmes with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 70-55. With that victory, Jay brought their scoring average up to 50.4 points per game.
Jay was led to victory by Sincere Jackson and Ny'ashia Barnes. Jackson dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds, while Barnes scored 23 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Barnes has scored at least 25% of Jay's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Robinson, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Holmes still got an impressive performance from Crystal Aragon, who scored 34 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The contest was Aragon's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Dominique Edwards was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Jay's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Holmes, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.
Coincidentally, Jay and Holmes will both be playing Harlan the next time they take the court. Holmes will host Harlan at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Jay will head out to face them at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
