Cardinal Stritch had lost five straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-10 to make it six. They lost 15-9 to the Toledo Christian Eagles. On the bright side, the nine- run performance marked the Cardinals' highest-scoring contest to date.
John Weaver made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Carsen Collins, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
As for Toledo Christian, the win got them back to even at 5-5. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
On Toledo Christian's side, Tyler Grace and Gavin Hamilton (White Uniform) made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Grace tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hamilton (White Uniform) pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Toledo Christian is 2-1 when Grace allows two or fewer hits, but 3-4 otherwise. At the plate, Grace went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI, while Hamilton (White Uniform) went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Grace has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gage Hess, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Dru Paszczykowski was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Looking ahead, Cardinal Stritch will challenge Rossford at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Toledo Christian, they will be taking part in a tournament against Edon at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
