Softball Recap: Marquette Wins Going Away Against Pontiac

Marquette barely beat Pontiac the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Crusaders blew past the Indians 16-8 on Wednesday. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Makayla Backos, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and one triple. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kealey Rick, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Marquette is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Pontiac, their record now sits at 14-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marquette will take on Seneca at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Fighting Irish will roll in looking for their 25th straight win, something the Crusaders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pontiac, they will challenge Paxton-Buckley-Loda at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
