Clearfield has gone 6-1 against Viewmont recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 3:30 p.m. Clearfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.
Clearfield is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs last Tuesday, they were much more limited against Bountiful last Thursday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the RedHawks. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the RedHawks: they've now lost four in a row.
Jenna Lloyd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lyla Leonhardt made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Viewmont hadn't done well against Roy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Thursday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Royals with a sharp 12-1 win. Considering the Vikings have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Viewmont got a massive performance out of Ricki Smith, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Raegyn Dahlke, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
Viewmont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
Viewmont's record now sits at 5-6. As for Clearfield, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-4.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Clearfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .376. However, it's not like Viewmont struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Clearfield took their victory against Viewmont when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-1 score. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
