IA Northern recap September 17, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Fernley, who defeated 26th ranked Fernley, 27-6. Nate Klekas in the win.
Jake Ernst of Churchill County ran for the longest rushing play in IA Northern this season against South Tahoe last week. Ernst's team topped the Vikings as he sprinted for 75 yards on the play and finished with 77 in all.
Hunter Triplett put up the best numbers in passing as Wooster fell to Lowry. He finished with a total of 14 completions for 157 yards and 2 touchdowns. Triplett's favorite target this week was Alex Anguiano, who caught 7 passes for 71 yards.
Tanner Sawyer was the best receiver in the league this week as Truckee fell to Dayton. Sawyer tallied 3 receptions for 99 yards. Sean Daniel helped Truckee's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.
BRAXTON WILLIAMS was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 211 yards on 13 carries as Spring Creek lost to the Dust Devils. THOMAS COVERT also contributed to the rushing game with 71 yards on the ground.

5-foot-10 quarterback Triplett of the Colts is the league leader in passing yards this season with 321. He has also thrown 4 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Kevin Montgomery. The Fernley star has 19 catches for 259 yards.
Next week's game between Wooster and Joel Lund's team will feature an aerial matchup as Triplett tests his arm against JACOB BOULETTE's defensive ability.
As it stands, the Spartans are in first, while Vince Johnson's team is in seventh.
Dayton was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 10th to sixth in IA Northern. Rob Turner's team defeated Truckee 35-14 earlier in the week.
