Softball Recap: Jefferson Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Jefferson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They never let the Beamer Titans get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Jefferson got a great performance from Delaney Merritt as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Jesabella Arceo was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two triples, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Amariah Moore was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Jefferson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .853. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Jefferson's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Beamer, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Jefferson will challenge Mt. Rainier at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.8 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Beamer, they will square off against Decatur at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Gators have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
