The Timberland Wolves fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Cane Bay Cobras on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cobras by a score of 40-37. Timberland was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cane Bay apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Timberland saw an underclassman step up: Zion Prioleau scored 19 points along with three steals. Prioleau set a new season high mark in blocks with two. Tashee Roberts was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Cane Bay was led to victory by Anai Custodio and LaChar Lawrence. Custodio scored six points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Lawrence scored seven points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Kimora Carmichael, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Timberland's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Cane Bay, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-11.
Timberland's road trip will continue as they head out to face Academic Magnet at 6:30 p.m. on January 5th. Academic Magnet is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Cane Bay, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Wando at 6:00 p.m. Wando has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
