There's no place like home for the Mountain Ridge Miners, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. They managed a 68-62 victory over Keyser on Tuesday. The win was all the more spectacular given Mountain Ridge's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 127th in Maryland, while Keyser is ranked 37th in West Virginia).
Among those leading the charge was Will Patterson, who scored 27 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Duncan, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Keyser's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jack Stanislawczyk, who scored 13 points along with six steals. Stanislawczyk is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Noah Broadwater was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five steals.
Mountain Ridge's win bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Keyser, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain Ridge will be home for the holidays to greet Tucker County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keyser will be home for the holidays to greet Hampshire at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
