After two games on the road, Soquel is heading back home. They will take on the Carmel Padres at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Soquel was able to grind out a solid win over Aptos, taking the game 26-14.
Soquel can attribute much of their success to Braylon Noble, who picked up 55 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Sam Whelan, who threw for 139 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Carmel put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Pacific Grove as Carmel made off with a 42-21 win. The result was nothing new for Carmel, who have now won seven contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Soquel pushed their record up to 8-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Santa Cruz and 2-8 Aptos (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 25% over those games). As for Carmel, their win bumped their record up to 10-0.
Everything came up roses for Soquel against Carmel in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 36-8 victory. Will Soquel repeat their success, or does Carmel have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
