TEMPLE, Texas - After trading leads three times,
Faith Academy (Marble Falls, Texas) snatched the lead for good when
Jason Byrd ran for a touchdown in the second quarter, paving the way for victory over
Central Texas Christian (Temple, Texas) 44-26.
The Flames were up 15-12 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by Byrd in the second quarter.
Faith Academy expanded its lead to 13 points entering the fourth quarter. FA scored four times in the third, including once on a Byrd touchdown run.
The loss snapped the Lions' 4-game winning streak.
Byrd was the top performer for the Marble Falls school. The senior ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 12 touchdowns on the season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Central Texas Christian, which notched a 41-34 victory over Texas School for the Deaf in its previous outing.
Central Texas Christian (5-4) will play a TAPPS Division III District 4 game against Texas Christian Academy next week, while Faith Academy (9-0) will take on Giddings State also in a TAPPS Division III District 4 game.
