The Desert Hills Thunder will square off against the Crimson Cliffs Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Desert Hills comes in on five and Crimson Cliffs on nine.
Even though Snow Canyon scored an imposing 33 points on Friday, Desert Hills still came out on top. Desert Hills took down Snow Canyon 49-33. 49 seems to be a good number for Desert Hills as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Tytan Mason was his usual excellent self, rushing for 222 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per carry, and also picking up 86 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Mason hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for six straight games. Gerritt Thomas grondel also helped out as he racked up 103 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, Crimson Cliffs stacked a tenth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They didn't even let Cedar onto the board and left with a 56-0 win. Given Crimson Cliffs' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah football rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Cedar is ranked 59th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Steele Barben, who threw for 296 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Barben hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for five straight games. Tyler West also helped out with an impressive 156 receiving yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Cedar to a paltry 178 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Crimson Cliffs' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Parker Andrus and his two sacks.
Desert Hills' win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Crimson Cliffs, their win was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-1.
Desert Hills was taken down by Crimson Cliffs 49-7 when the teams last played back in September. Can Desert Hills avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
