It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Notus Pirates ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top against North Star by a score of 49-42. The victory was just what Notus needed coming off of a 58-32 defeat in their prior game.
It was another big night for Benny Guevara, who scored 27 points along with four steals. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for him. Korbin Hilbert was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with ten rebounds.
Loss or not, North Star got some senior leadership from Blake Hansen who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and three steals and Milt Pettit who scored four points along with 13 rebounds. Hansen scored a full 50% of North Star's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Even though they lost, North Star were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Notus' victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for North Star, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Coincidentally, Notus and North Star will both be playing Riverstone International the next time they take the court. North Star will host Riverstone International at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Notus will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th.
