After a string of three wins, the Bradwell Institute Tigers's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 66-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Statesboro. Bradwell Institute was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the loss, Bradwell Institute still got an impressive performance from Parris Parham, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Parham has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Janiyah Blevins, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Alyssa Staten continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Statesboro, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 20 rebounds. Staten is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Reya Johnson, who scored 15 points along with eight assists and six rebounds.
Bradwell Institute's defeat dropped their record down to 20-3. As for Statesboro, they pushed their record up to 19-3 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bradwell Institute will take on the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jenkins will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Tigers are ranked 28th). As for Statesboro, they will head out on the road to take on the Wolfpack at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenbrier has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 6.
