Catholic scored 14 first-quarter points with special teams play and a stout defense before the offense went on a game-killing drive late to close out the Blue Jays.
The Bears' scored in the opening period on a botched punt by Jesuit and followed that with a score after holding the Blue Jays on fourth down.
Late in the game, Catholic relied on its rushing attack behind
Tae Nicholas, who ran for 109 yards on 25 carries. The final drive didn't result in points, but drained more than nine minutes off the clock and kept Jesuit from a chance for the comeback.
Zachary, which finished No. 2, won the 5A title 28-20 over Ponchatoula for the Broncos third crown in five seasons. Texas A&M commit Eli Holstein led the Zachary attack with 257 yards passing and two scores.
