While La Jolla Country Day's win against St. Joseph Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Torreys skirted past the Crusaders 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Torreys have posted since March 20th.
Ayla Desai was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kathryn McGowen, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Josephine Criado was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one RBI.
La Jolla Country Day kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

La Jolla Country Day's record is now 7-12. As for Maranatha Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. La Jolla Country Day has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .462. However, it's not like Maranatha Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
