The La Jolla Country Day Torreys will head out to  square off against the Maranatha Christian Eagles  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. La Jolla Country Day will be strutting in after a  victory while Maranatha Christian will be coming in after a  loss.
While La Jolla Country Day's  win against St. Joseph Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Torreys skirted past the Crusaders  8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory the Torreys have posted  since March 20th.
 Ayla Desai was a  major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run and  allowing only two  hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't  given up  more than one  walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with two  runs and two  RBI.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Kathryn McGowen, who  got on base  in three of her four plate appearances with two  runs and one  RBI.  Josephine Criado was another key player,  going 3-for-5 with one  RBI.
 La Jolla Country Day  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 12  hits. They are  a perfect 5-0 when  they post 11 or more  hits.
 Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Maranatha Christian's offense. They lost  10-0 to Foothills Christian last Friday. The Eagles have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
 La Jolla Country Day's record is now 7-12. As for Maranatha Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
Tuesday's   contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. La Jolla Country Day has hit smart this season,  having  averaged  an OBP of .462. However, it's not like Maranatha Christian struggles in that department as   they've  averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
 La Jolla Country Day couldn't quite get it done against Maranatha Christian when the teams last played  back in April as they fell  9-4. Can the Torreys avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
