The Bishop Walsh Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Mountain Ridge, falling 81-51. While losing is never fun, Bishop Walsh can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while the Miners are ranked 139th).
It was another big night for Will Patterson, who went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 39 points and 6 assists for Mountain Ridge. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Patterson has scored all season. Brady Moran was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with four steals.
Bishop Walsh's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Mountain Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Walsh is on the road again on Friday and plays the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. One thing working in Morgantown Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests. As for Mountain Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against the Sentinels at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
